His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda thanked China for their continued support to Brunei Darussalam in sports, including wushu training by Chinese coaches and when Brunei Darussalam hosted the 9th World Junior Championship in 2024. His Royal Highness made the sabda during a meeting with His Excellency Gao Zhidan, Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China. The meeting took place at the General Administration for Sports of China (GASC) National Training Centre.

His Royal Highness, in his sabda, said that there is vast potential for the development of sports cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China, and expressed Brunei's interest to learn more about China's innovative approaches in nurturing athletic talent. His Royal Highness expressed pleasure that Bruneian wushu athletes have excelled in various international competitions such as the SEA Games and the World Junior Wushu Championships and are making important strides in Brunei Darussalam's sports industry. Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by the Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China.

In the meeting, His Royal Highness welcomed both countries' mutual commitment to establishing Brunei-China wushu training camps under the Bilateral Cooperation Plan of the Belt and Road Initiatives, which was signed in 2025, to further develop cooperation in this area. The Memorandum of Understanding on Sports Cooperation, which was also signed during the State Visit of His Majesty to China in 2025, has laid a solid foundation in this important area. After the meeting, His Royal Highness visited the Indoor Swimming Pool Complex and the National Team Performance Centre, where His Royal Highness was briefed on specialised training using various technologies to enhance the skills of Chinese athletes. His Royal Highness then proceeded to the Sports Hall and was presented with a Wushu performance by students from Beijing Sports University. The GASC, established in 1998, is a ministerial-level agency under the State Council of the People's Republic of China, responsible for the development and administration of sports, including overseeing the All-China Sports Federation and the Chinese Olympic Committee and plays a key role in developing Olympic athletes in the country.
